With St. Patrick’s Day just around the corner (March 17th), you may want to know how to make an Irish Coffee. Having a few Irish themed drinks handy can be fun, weather you’re looking to cater a party, or a romantic Irish themed evening for two, Irish Coffee is a crowd favorite!

What is Irish Coffee?

For those who are not aware, Irish Coffee is an alcoholic cocktail that combines coffee, Irish whiskey (i.e. Jameson), and whipped cream for a touch of sweetness.

Great for cool nights, Irish themed events.

Irish Coffee Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup of Brewed Coffee
  • Brown sugar
  • Granulated sugar
  • 5oz Irish Whiskey – Commonly, Jameson (measurements = 1.5oz, 3tbs. or 1 jigger)
  • Whipped cream or Heavy cream (Learn what you like best, try both!)
  • 1 Mug

Directions:

  1. Start by preheating your mug (or preferred glass) by filling with hot water for several seconds.

Tip: Doing this helps your drink from cooling too quickly, similar to chilling a mug prior to making root beer floats.

  1. Empty the mug and pour your freshly brewed coffee in your mug. Fill about ¾ full.

Tip: Play with the coffee to whiskey ratio, find what you and/or guests like best.

  1. Add in granulated sugar and brown sugar, stirring until dissolved.
  2. Mix in Irish whiskey of your choice. Of course, we prefer Jameson Irish Whiskey.
  3. Top drink off with a layer of whipped cream, or heavy cream.

Tip: If using heavy cream, slowly pour over the back of a spoon.

  1. Serve while it’s hot!
